China has made four breakthroughs in the investigation of marine combustible ice

after nearly 10 years of in-depth implementation, China's special investigation and Research on marine combustible ice resources has made breakthroughs in four aspects, which will be fully concluded in the first half of 2011. This was learned from the special conclusion and deployment meeting recently held by the China Geological Survey in Guangzhou

combustible ice is the common name of natural gas hydrate. It is a new clean energy found in the ocean and permafrost in recent 20 years, and can be used as a substitute for traditional energy such as oil, carbon, etc. It is estimated that the total resource of organic carbon contained in combustible ice in the world is equivalent to twice of the known coal, oil and natural gas in the world

under the organization and deployment of the China Geological Survey, China has carried out substantial investigation and Research on combustible ice since 1999. With the official approval of the state, China has officially launched the special investigation and Research on combustible ice resources in China's sea areas since 2002, and the implementation time is from 2002 to 2010. The special project consists of four projects, including the investigation and evaluation of combustible ice resources in China's sea areas, exploration and development technology, environmental effects, etc. The project is in the charge of the Ministry of land and resources, organized and implemented by the China Geological Survey, and undertaken by the Guangzhou Marine Geological Survey of the Ministry of land and resources, Qingdao Institute of Marine Geology and the State Oceanic Administration

in the past 10 years, the Guangzhou Marine Geological Survey, as the specific implementation unit of the project, has used a total of 4 survey ships and organized 25 voyages to carry out the investigation and evaluation of combustible ice resources in the northern slope area of the South China Sea, especially in the Xisha Trough, Shenhu, Dongsha and southeast Hainan, which provide customized solutions for customers

at present, the investigation team has made breakthroughs in the following four aspects:

-- a favorable area of combustible ice on the northern slope of the South China Sea has been found. In Xisha Trough, Dongsha, Shenhu and southeast Hainan sea areas, multi-level and multi information anomalies of deep shallow surface geophysical, geochemical, geological and biological aspects of combustible ice have been found

-- we evaluated the potential of combustible ice resources on the northern slope of the South China Sea. The abnormal distribution range is preliminarily delineated, the thickness of combustible ice layer and the prospect of hydrate resources are predicted, and the potential of combustible ice resources in this area is evaluated

-- Dongsha and Shenhu have been identified as two key targets for combustible ice. The most favorable target area for the combustible ice prospect of the South China Sea North No. 6 fatigue testing machine in the process of experimental detection is delineated, which provides a target area for the implementation of combustible ice drilling verification

-- it is confirmed that there are combustible ice resources in the South China Sea. From April to June 2007, foreign drilling vessels were hired to carry out drilling projects in Shenhu sea area, and samples of combustible ice were successfully obtained. This makes China the fourth country after the United States, Japan and India to obtain samples of combustible ice through national R & D programs

experts participating in the Guangzhou special conclusion and deployment meeting believed that China should set up a new special investigation project on the basis of major breakthroughs, so as to ensure that the investigation and evaluation of combustible ice resources in China will continue to expand the achievements in the next 10 to 20 years, so that this strategic capital can make a practical contribution to the national energy security as soon as possible due to the high growth of production, technological progress and the decline of capital
